As Miroslav Tichý (1926 - 2011) was presented at the Biennial of Seville in 2004 by Harald Szeemann the first time the general public, the art world had fixed a new star on its firmament. Tichy was a painter, photographer and ascetic with convincing Inventionskraft and extended the boundaries of photography to an equally strange and magical chapter: After training as a painter, he photographed many years obsessively and secretly the women of his hometown. In the darkest time of the Czechoslovak socialism he had succeeded in the province of South Moravia, to celebrate the beauty of the woman in a complete works of singular rank. The publication reflects based on hitherto unpublished pictures and documents critical to the career of the great artist's personality and examines the myths of his existence.
