Johan Nieuwenhuizes new project IMG_ is an ever growing collection of abstract and sometimes abstract photographic observations of the phenomenon City: structures, buildings, cars, reflections. The work represents the active visual archive Nieuwenhuizes that has arisen traveling to various cities in Europe and the United States. The combination of the images is similar to the "Kuleshov effect," an experiment of the Russian filmmaker Lev Kuleshov in the 1920s. In a short film combined these three changing settings - first a bowl of soup, 2 a child in a coffin and third woman on a sofa - with the same shot of the face of a man and caused the viewer different interpretations of: hunger sorrow, lust. In IMG_ Nieuwenhuize uses this psychological
phenomenon to change the meaning of individual images and their context, and thus to allow the viewer to free association. , the Dutch photographer, artist and curator Johan Nieuwenhuize (* 1980), among others in the Van Kranendonk Gallery, The Hague , Art Rotterdam, the Three Shadows Photography Art Centre, Beijing, and in the De cabinets van De Vleeshal, Middelburg, issued.
